Our experienced team operates from two offices, providing ecological surveys and consultancy services across England and Wales since 1998. We deliver pragmatic solutions to a wide and expanding client base.

As part of our collaborative approach, we provide core ecological services such as our tailored Preliminary Ecological Appraisals. This service is designed around our clients’ needs. Our clear and concise reports inform and help to progress your project development.

We offer expertise across terrestrial and aquatic habitat types. Our licensed and experienced ecologists routinely liaise with government agencies on ecological and planning issues, including mitigation measures and monitoring of protected species. Our staff are members of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), the professional body that represents and supports ecologists and environmental managers in the UK, Ireland and abroad.

Wildwood Ecology holds professional indemnity, employers’ liability, and public liability insurance cover. Our motivated staff are trained to work in confined space and low risk asbestos environments, hold LISS/CSCS cards, and are first aid and health and safety trained.  Wildwood Ecology is a registered and approved SafeContractor company.

Did you know

The Great Crested Newt (GCN) is the largest native newt that is found in the UK. Previously a common species that many people remember finding in backyard ponds, but the populations have declined in recent years and is now a rare species across Europe and are now strictly protected.

GCN actually only uses ponds for breeding and spend most of the year outside of water where the surrounding habitat is important for hunting and resting grounds for the newt. The GCN is a top predator and will eat most things that it can fit in its mouth, that happens to walk by.

GCN can be found in a variety of habitats and even in urban ponds where they may not be expected.

Wildwood Ecology can offer both traditional methods of surveying for GCN, along with novel environmental DNA surveys. Contact us now for a tailored quote.
